At Gordon’s Milkshake Bar, an order of sweet-potato cheesecake ice cream nachos is as welcome as the return of springtime warm weather. Flour tortillas, fried and tossed in cinnamon and sugar, form a bed of crispy goodness. Sweet potatoes stewed in cinnamon and brown sugar are warmed on a hot plate behind the ice cream counter. Marshmallows are toasted to order. Two scoops of ice cream, mixed at Gordon’s East 10th Street production facility, contain big chunks of homemade cheesecake. Freshly whipped salted-caramel cream is applied with an aerator. The dish is garnished with candied walnuts. A drizzle of Hershey’s caramel sauce finishes the treat.
