Inhabit Debuts Its First Showroom in Irvington

New Fixture

Ritter Avenue’s stretch of fixer-uppers is the last place you’d expect to find any boutique, much less one as design-forward as Inhabit. But when the national home-decor company decided to open its first showroom, owners Jennifer Masten and Mike Tuttle created a space next to their office in Irvington, where many of their products are made. Until now, local fans of the brand had to buy its homegoods online; while they are sold in more than 10 countries and often featured in magazines, few stores in Inhabit’s hometown have ever stocked its wares, and those that did carried just a few items. Now Indy shoppers have exclusive access to the full product line: furniture upholstered in Inhabit textiles (sofas, $1,200 and up), hand-tufted rugs ($142), graphic-motif bedding, drinkware, handbags, and a slew of other soft, contemporary designs. As for the quirky bullseye pillows featuring a cute animal in crosshairs, Masten can explain: “Back in the ’50s, Sears used to hand out shooting targets when you bought a rifle. I based the design off of those.” 211 S. Ritter Ave., 317-636-1699, inhabitliving.com
