» Plan to take a long lunch on May 4 for the kickoff of downtown’s Original Farmers’ Market (222 E. Market St.). New vendors have joined the lineup this year, including H2O Microgreens, Mathoos Eggrolls, Revival Food Co., and Blue Yonder Organic Farm. The market will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. from May to October.

» Popular Chicago bakery Turano Baking Company has expanded to the Indy area, supplying and delivering its specialty artisan breads to local restaurants.

» According to the IBJ, Pedcor Cos. is close to nailing down a new restaurant tenant for the former Shapiro’s location in Carmel (918 S. Range Line Road). The space has sat vacant since Shapiro’s closed up its Carmel outpost in June 2013.

» Need plans for Cinco de Mayo? Downtown’s new Mexican restaurant Nada (11 W. Maryland St., 317-638-6232) will be serving $5 house margaritas, $3 Mexican beers, and $2 Durango BBQ Pastor tacos.
